The Introduction Status and Prospect for GHS of Classification and Labeling of Chemical Management System in Korea
Byeon Sang-Hoon

Abstract
The globally harmonized system(GHS) is classified by 16 items that are based on physical, chemical and ecological endpoints. GHS concept is a means of providing a unified chemical classification processes. Many chemical entities lack basic toxicity. A number of national and international schemes have been developed over the past 50 years. The developmental phase of GHS is largely completed. The Intergovernmental Forum for Chemical Safety recommendeds that all countries implement the GHS as soon as possible with a view to have the system fully operational by 2008. The GHS may have long term flow on effects for improving workplace risk assessments, com petentency training and control of workplace hazards and risks. Korea is immediately required the implement by GHS. If the industrial workplace of Korea settled with international GHS, the workplace would be controled more safe than before and the worker could be recognized the hazard signs easily.
